Cate’s latest play, Two Truths and a Lie, is set in an adult education class and asks questions about identity, community, and the secrets we tell ourselves. Her play Sheltered, based on stories by women experiencing homelessness, was a finalist for the 2019 Fratti-Newman Political Play Contest. Her work has been seen in Denver and other Colorado cities, New York, Seattle, and Omaha. Cate studied community-based theater at Cornerstone Theater Company in Los Angeles, working on the production of At-Traction in the Los Angeles Arts District. She is Associate Professor in the English Department at the University of Colorado Denver.
About the Play
Zoe is about to jump off a mountain. The hiker who reaches out to her gets a lesson in despair. Both characters learn that the hardship of surviving day to day might be worth the risk.
